Any excellent Optometrists to shadow in the San Francisco Bay Area?

I’m interested in applying to Optometry school next year and would like to gain clinical experience. For those who’ve shadowed, are there any Optometrists in particular that you would recommend?

How do optometrists know if a baby needs glasses or not?

I was in the dentist’s office and i saw a baby with glasses. How do the optometrists know they need glasses if they can’t take the eye test? (You know the one where you have to read the letters on the paper)

How much would the cost for an eye exam differ for different optometrists?

Is it worth shopping around, or are they all going to be pretty much the same price? Also, is there a difference between optometrists and opthamologists if you need to get contact lenses?
