  • Do Publicly Accessible Web Tools Require a Yahoo ID?

I am setting up a new group. I elected to have the Calendar available to the public (not just members). However, when I go to the main page and I’m not signed in, it still asks me to sign in with a Yahoo ID.

Doesn’t making this feature available to the public allow those without a Yahoo ID to see it?

that public refers to the Yahoo public, that is not a member of your group but has a Yahoo ID. it does not mean the general world wide web.

it’s a Yahoo groups web feature, and it prompts non Yahoo users to become Yahoo users by creating an ID which is what Yahoo wants, more users. public archives is different since that more relates to the ability to RSS feed. if everything was made to be web public, you then wouldn’t need to join or have a Yahoo Account/ ID.- then what would be the point of Yahoo groups. they’d call it Web groups
